Shakatak are a pure Jazz Funk Band. Jazz Funk was centred during the late 70's and followed on until the mid 80's, with other similar Bands. From listening to Night Birds which was in the UK charts in 1982, the samples taken from various instruments, like the Guitar and Piano along with other samples with an electronic drum beat, enabling the Band to create a different sound system, which allowed Jazz to be used as a basis for creating funk, which was unique in which party goers were enabled to actually dance to this type of music, instead of perhaps private clubs or Restaurants within Hotels where small groups would perform traditional Jazz, to those who did care for this music.
