Info about song

The title track from the second Porcupine Tree cassette, and one which made it onto the debut album. The song's tongue-in-cheek name was a sly dig both at the "tribute band" mentality on the psychedelia scene, and at the short, passive memories of music reviewers and consumers. Alan Duffy's lyrical inspiration is somewhere between Syd Barrett and Lewis Carroll, while the music got compared to (the then massively hip) Ride in Melody Maker. Steven points out that - as with Ride's Leave Them All Behind - the major inspiration is actually Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who. "This illustrated my point," he adds ruefully. "One thing I've tended to experience with the British music press is that if you try to talk to them about the history of music, their knowledge often doesn't go back beyond The Stone Roses or Happy Mondays." This song was regularly performed during the May 1996 tour. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
