Info about song
"Butterflies" is a song by Michael Jackson, written by neo-soul duo Floetry member Marsha Ambrosius. Jackson said that it was his favorite song on Invincible.[1] The song was originally written in early 1997 whilst Ambrosius was in high school. The original version can be found on the UK version of Floetry's Floetic and features the same rhythm track that appears on Jackson's album in 2001. Ambrosius' background vocals on Jackson's track are also the same as those on Floetry's version. It was to be the third single from Invincible, scheduled for release in 2002.[2] For unexplained reasons, Sony cancelled the commercial release. The song was released promotionally to U.S. radio stations and reached #14 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Jackson's last Top 40 hit on the Hot 100. It also reached #2 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart from airplay alone.[3] A special edition of the single exists, featuring a duet between Floetry and Jackson. A European promo single of "Butterflies" was released in late 2001[citation needed]. 12" Promo EAS 56719 1. Master Mix (feat. Eve)* 2. Michael A Cappella 3. Eve A Cappella 4.
