This is Marlena's cover of the classic tune "Go Away Little Girl". It was written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King and recorded by Steve Lawrence in 1962 on his album titled "Winners!" In 1971, the song would be covered by Donny Osmond. Both of these artists would reach number one with the song. In 1977, Marlena puts her own jazzy and sassy spin on the timeless tune with her version titled "Go Away Little Boy". Mixed in with the original lyrics are Marlena's earthy and sometimes funny lyrical touches, such as "Let the doorknob hit ya where the dog should bit ya little boy" and "Don't look like our lips ain't never gonna have another chance to meet". All the while, the song is backed by a smooth 70's style groove that keeps you humming. While the original song is about the the realization of a relationship that should not happen, Marlena take is about a woman that doesn't want to be bothered with a man that cannot hold his own.
