“Love is Just a Four-Letter Word” is a song that Joan Baez stole from Dylan, almost quite literally. She began to take it from him before he had even finished the song, even getting somewhat impatient when he wouldn’t finish it, saying in D.A. Pennebaker’s Don’t Look Back that he had “finished it about eight different times.” While Baez has recorded the song several times, Dylan himself has apparently never recorded the song himself – there are no known recordings or bootlegs, official or otherwise.
