This is as close as JC gets to writing a Christmas song, and it's filled with longing for a makeup that he hopes will turn into a lifetime. The vivid imagery painted in the listener's mind with so few words demonstrate Jim's lyrical skills, and the brisk chord progesssion and interweaving of major and minors pull this together as a testament to a legend of a songwriter. I spent hours charting out this song in the month following his plane crash, and found myself drawn in to every song on that album. My time spent in classroom study of music theory was justified by applying those lessons to figuring out what Jim did with a six string Martin and making it sound like a solemn music box in this tune.
