Info about song
One of the best songs one will ever listened too. This distinction is for those songs that are of a truly artistic expression on all levels - the notes, the lyrics, and the connection across genres to everyday human experiences. So, maybe not the review guidelines one might expect, of just enjoyment or best of its class, though one of relevance to all music lovers. That being said the fact remains that this song performed be Eddi Reader is wonderful no matter what system or scale of comparison is used. Eddi Readers rendition of this song screams softly and lucidly about compassion and respect of all people - an anthematic call to action in the most simplest of daily activities. This song allows Eddi Reader a home for her own love for those in need or alone to shine in this oft uncompassionate world. One will find haunting beauty in the melodies and natural depth with good rhythm surrounding the strong lyrical content. The various instruments blend well with her voice, and naturally so. She sings as if it is the only song she would want you to remember, if you were to ever remember any of her work. This song would be like a a wilted flower that comes to resurgence and full bloom by the end of the song…yes, thats a good image to describe the build up, the crescendos, and the meaning so desperately being conveyed. A soul stirring performance. Conveyed largely due to the strong lyrics. This song was written by Si Kahn who seems to be a proud Jewish man(2,3), founder and board member of Jewish Funds for Justice(1), and life long activist(2,3) active in sharing the love of man not the love of Jewish religion, evident by his foremost venture, Grassroots Leadership(2,3), where he often uses his music to lead all mankind to not ignore their fellow human beings trials and tribulations. Be certain that one will not hear God or religion in the song, rather one hears his rich heritage instilled by his family and the beliefs he clearly lives in his walk , not just his talk(4).
