"Nexus" sets the theme for the 1981 Double Platinum double album "The Innocent Age," Fogelberg's most ambitious project. The song, featuring a sitar among other atypical instruments, is a tapestry woven around a message dealing with the brevity of life and a sudden realization of mortality that spurs a search for the immortal. Several very big hits, including "Run for the Roses," and "Same Old Lang Syne" come from this project. Dan plays acoustic and electric guitars, bass, a Coral electric sitar, percussion, and, as is his trademark, performs all lead and background vocals.
