Yellow Pearl was founded at the end of 2002 by singer/composer Emiel Pijnaker. Emiel just came back from America, where he spent his time in LA and New York, working with Madonna's label Maverick and Aaron Postil (Guns 'n' Roses). With his high school friends Sander Keuls, Emiel Goedkoop, Myrrdin Hoogenraad and Viktor Beekman he rapidly worked to create a repertoire. When Guzz Genser (former Wild Romance band member) offered his drum skills, Yellow Pearl was born.
The first single 'For you and me' (March 2004) immediately went up to #26 in the Pepsi Charts and as a result the song was played frequently on all the major radio stations. Apart from the radio attention, the band also appeared on national TV stations a lot. In the mean time the song has been featured on several compilations as Hitzone 27, Heaven Top 100 and a CD box of the worlds longest running radio show "Arbeidsvitaminen".
After this amazing kick-off, the band set out to play a lot and started to work on writing and preparing their debut album "Rebel in You" which was born November 2006. The album contains 14 tracks, produced by Stephen van Haestregt (drummer of the rock group Within Temptation). The record was released in Amsterdams Paradiso, Holland's most famous rock temple where the band, six months prior, was the opening act for Thin Lizzy. The first single "See You Again" made it to #30 in the Dutch top 100 and the album got several great reviews in the music media.
As we speak, the second single of the album, "Already over You" has been released and is getting airplay on all the national radio stations. During the rest of 2007 Yellow Pearl will continue to play all over the country and is hungrier then ever to share their music with everybody out there...
Reviews
MusicFrom.nl: This first born of Yellow Pearl, after four years of development, is as solid as a rock. The compositions are well written and it is very clear that this band musically has grown into a mature, consistent group.
Fret Magazine: Yellow Pearl and producer Stephen van Haestregt have succeeded in delivering a record with a lot of strong compositions. The album contains a few tracks with surprising intros and outros that are refreshing and exciting. Conclusion: a beautiful record with songs that almost surely will bring success for this group.
Platomania Magazine: Pijnaker has a great raspy voice and the keys oriented pop has gotten a major soul injection. Craftsmanship of a very promising new band.
