Construction is The Wonder Stuff's heaviest album. After the pop success of Never Loved Elvis the band came back angrier and with their folky edge focusing more on protest songs than dueling fiddles.
The massive 'Under Construction' tour to promote this album broke the band, causing them to split up for several years after touring heavily and releasing three singles from the record.
Full Of Life (Happy Now), On The Ropes & Hot Love Now all made the UK charts. There were a wealth of tracks which backed the supporting singles (including fan favorite Room 512 (All The News That's Fit To Print) and a cover of The Indigo Girls Closer To Fine) which have since been added to a re-release of the record.
The T-Shirts sold on the Under Construction tour were an iconic feature of the early 90's UK indie scene. Their bold Courier type IDIOT slogan will forever be a Band Merchandise classic.
Contruction For The Modern Idiot was first released by Polydor in October 1993 and reached #4 on the UK album charts. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
