The Pauki (Cyrillic "The Пауки", The Spiders) is a Russian punk rock band from Saint Petersburg formed in 1991. The search of their style has begun with psychobilly and rockabilly, even with attempt to use a contrabass, but it didn't result well.
So they tried to add some punk, grange and folk into their music and new style the called Prohabilly has appeared. This name is in honor of one of the last participants of the band who unfortunately is not with us now (R.I.P.) but the style is conserved. The band begun their performance in "Tam Tam" club and then in various clubs of Saint Petersburg and then entire Russia.
The lyrics of their songs have no relationship with politics neither with narcotics. In their poetry they use ancient legends, Scandinavian myths, usual legends, fantasy style and also a lot of songs are dedicated to the light alcoholic drink - beer. Read more on Last.fm.
