Taking their name from professional wrestler, bouncer-turned-actor and television personality Mr. T, The Mr. T Experience, or "MTX", create primarily pop-punk music featuring a mixture of comedic, satirical, and romantic lyrics. They emerged from the same Gilman Street Project/Lookout! Records pop-punk scene that also produced other notable acts, including Green Day and Operation Ivy.
With nearly each album, however, their lineup has continually shifted -- with front man Dr. Frank (real name Frank Portman) now remaining as the only original member of the group. MTX are also best known for introducing just about every live song with the line, "This is a song about a girl...".
