The Groove played a mixture of their own original material as well as covers and had a bit of a " mod revival" following. Their debut single titled Blue Blue Monday// Love for money was released in 1987 and reached number 19 in the Irish charts, and supported David Bowie at Slane castle in the same year on a bill that also included Big Country and Aslan. They recorded at least one 3 track demo in 1988, described by Hot Press magazine as using a building, brassy approach. Brendan Wallace was eventually replaced by Clive Cheevers with the band splitting in 1989.
