In Her Gentle Jaws is the first LP by American dream pop/shoegaze and chiptune band The Depreciation Guild, originally self-released digitally on December 5, 2007. Vocalist/guitarist/programmer Kurt Feldman and guitarist Akira Hashizume recorded the album over the course of a week in January 2007 at the house of a close friend. Hashizume later left the band to go back to graduate school in May 2007 and was replaced by one of Feldman's college friends, guitarist Christoph Hochheim, who helped Feldman produce and finalize the album.
The band released the album for free on their own website, feeling that it was the best way to reach as many people as possible. Feldman, Hochheim, and band manager John DeCicco collaborated with Lucha Design and artist Agi Morawska (who also made In Her Gentle Jaws' album art, and eventually designed all of the band's future artwork and merchandise) in order to create it. In Her Gentle Jaws was downloaded almost 100,000 times during the website's lifetime, not including figures from other websites and blogs that also offered it for free.
After the album's release, the Depreciation Guild signed with Kanine Records; the band had previously played at shows put on by the label's founders, Lio and Kay Kanine, and developed a personal relationship with them. Kanine Records subsequently remastered and reissued In Her Gentle Jaws in physical formats for the first time in September 2009, making it available as both a CD and as a crystal clear vinyl LP in deluxe packaging, limited to 500 copies worldwide.
On August 3, 2013, the album's recording line-up of Feldman and Hashizume reunited for a one-night show at the Glasslands Gallery in Brooklyn, New York, where the duo played the record in its entirety.
