This unusual band started in late 90s as an idea of return to the spirit of 80s music. Few persons connected with the alternative music scene of Warsaw had a thought that life in their neighbourhood becomes more and more boring and plastic, people drawn in alienation, don’t talk to each other on the partys, and the brainwashed techno dictatorship is ruling everywhere... bla bla bla Kostek (before playing in punk band The Leszczers, postpunk Ameba and industrial Najakotiva), the singer Eva and the disco dancer Maciek wanted to start“brutal romantic” 80s style music&dance&alcohol band. The same people in 1998 played as “2000 Dirty DJs” vinyl records of old polish 80s hits in the squat in old fortress in Warsaw. Now they wanted to hear this stuff alive, so they began to play. First concert appeared in the winter of 1999. The songs based on the inspiration of horror-sweet-synth pop of the nuclear age (especially from the Eastern Europe) with the unhappy love lirycs. The sound went from the Casio synthesizer for kids and the drum machine, mixed with romantic rock guitar solos and early pre punk/glam spirit. Important part of the show was two shakin disco dancers in glam jackets, the rest of the band had vampire make ups and new romantic style wear. For two years Super Girl & Romantic Boys were playing gigs in Poland, travelling together with “disco front” friends, and having lot of disco&destroy fun. They played in lots of places in Warsaw and in the suburbs, also on the Punx Picnic’99 in Wroclaw and on the festival against sexism&homophobia “Noc Walpurgii 2000” in Warsaw. After this gig the SG&RB had a break, the guitarist had gone away. After changing guitarist to Adolv (known from the pogopunk Silikon Fest), the band changed the sound to a little more new wave and electro pop (original 80s instruments –Yamaha DX 21synthesizer and Korg drum machine). The crew began to use the colorophone lights during the gigs. Super Girl & Romantic Boys played 2 times in Berlin, in autumn’2002 had a tour in Germany and Holland ,in may – june 2003 they played gigs in Russia, Belarus and Latvia. The songs of SGRB were realeased on two polish and one russian electroclash compilations. The SG&RB has one album already recorded and three video clips realeased. Now they prepare new songs with laptop, vintage synths and old polish Simmons style drum pads, The style can be called as post – new romantic. The band have two new players (guitar and drums), new energy and new ideas. Super Girl Romantic Boys are preparing the web site now and wait for the propositions of gigs and realeases.
