Şükriye Tutkun (b. 1965) is a Turkish folk singer. Born on the19th September 1965, she was broght up and educated in state orphanages. Following her graduation from High School she was admitted to a Conservatory to study Opera, but she had to drop her studies and start working. While she was working, she also joined the Turkish Radio Television youth chorus, the Opera of Istanbul youth chorus, and the Church of St Antoine chorus. She took the Conservatory entrance exams again, and came first....

She took the Conservatory entrance exams again, and came first. While she was studying, she taught music in kindergartens and trained youth choruses to earn her living. After a period of classical education, she started to work on traditional songs with her vocal teacher, and discovered that this was what she most enjoyed.
