There are three acts by the name of Sojourn.
1. Sojourn is a band from Louisville, KY, comprised of musicians from Sojourn Community Church.
2. Sojourn is a hip-hop artist (emcee and producer) from California, best known for being a member of Future Shock. He has recorded with Future Shock, Tunnel Rats, and other artists from the mid-90's to the present. His solo debut project, Sojournalism, was released in 2009.
3. Sojourn is a band based out of Ontario, Canada. It formed in the fall of 2002 after Bruce and Mike spent time traveling on the west coast of Scotland. Equipped with guitars, and torrential downpour they began writing songs that were heavily influenced by the weather. Composing an original style of rock music with dark, emotionally driven lyrics, reflective of their time spent in a sunlight deprived, damp environment.
Mike and Bruce parted ways in the winter, but reconvened in late 2003 when they met again in Ottawa. Returning from their "sojourns," they resumed where they had left off, with fresh ideas.
Working tirelessly, it would be the fall of 2004 when Sojourn finally got to play their first acoustic show, to a small audience in the upstairs of a local venue.
Now writing new material that incorporated new ideas, new facets of music, and new instruments, they reached out to Matt, an accomplished drummer who had played in several punk bands with Bruce throughout Highschool. Having just completed his studies in percussion, Matt joined Bruce and Mike in Ottawa to start an original rock ensemble.
Another year of focussing hard, and jamming relentlessly,(with the help of different bass players) Max and Joey finally fit the mold, helping the boys sonically create new songs of a rock genre that were driven by an upbeat, energized emotion. Sojourn had found their original sound, and a niche in the local rock community.
Having been slotted along side such acts as The Jimmy Swift Band, Peter Elkas, and The Golden Dogs, Sojourn are on their way to finding their own spot in Canada's original rock scene.
With the help of their debut C.D. "Trendy Takers," and many live shows including an east coast tour, Sojourn were recent winners of the LiVE 88.5 "Big Money Shot," assuring there will be extensive touring throughout this summer and through the fall.
