What started off as a group of friends getting together to make music soon got the attention of very many locals in the Rio Grande Valley. Local clubs would invite these teenagers to open up for big Tejano acts. A mixture of cover and original songs also got the attention of an important record label out of Corpus Christi called, Crown Records. Before the record deal, the band had to come up with an original name that would represent them.
Their name was derived from the Spanish word "signo" which means "sign". However, Jesse and the band decided to create their own word and out came "Siggno" with a new meaning which represented their unique style of romantic but dancable music.
After the band landed a contract with Crown Records, they came one step closer to reaching their dream. This band's repertoire featured a wide variety of original songs ranging from rancheras to cumbias with some new age twists and effects now becoming more and more accepted by the Industry. The band's originality, energetic sound, and strong stage presence made them a great band for both adults and teens, even kids.
Crown Records released Siggno's new album "AL PRINCIPIO"on July 10, 2001 and featured their first single "Pero Hablame" which charted for a whopping 27 weeks on some of the nation's leading Tejano charts. Other songs that became hits were "Esta Lloviendo" and "Un Poquito". Jesse wrote the three singles along with 5 more original songs for the album. He also won the prestigious "Rising Male Star of the Year Award" at the Tejano Music Industry Awards.
That same year Siggno signed with the biggest agency both in the U.S.A. and Mexico, Representaciones Artisticas Serca in Monterrey, N.L..
Siggno completed their next project titled,"POR AMOR"and was released on October 1, 2002.
Once again the album consisted of 8 original songs which were composed by Jesse Turner. Jesse was also one of the featured artists in the PBS special "Accordion Dreams" which aired nationally on Thursday, August 30th, 2001. The special has been aired several times in different cities around the country. Their biggest accomplishment came later that year when they were nominated for a Grammy which were held in New York. Unfortunately, they didn't win but being nominated was enough to create a bigger buzz in the music industry.
In 2002, Siggno was nominated for many Valley Choice Awards held in McAllen, Texas. That year Jesse received the 2002 Male Entertainer of the Year Award and 2002 Male Vocalist of the Year Award. In 2003, Jesse received the 2003 Male Entertainer of the Year Award and then received 2004 Male Vocalist of the Year Award.
The promotion for both albums included appearances in many top TV shows from both Univision and Telemundo. Siggno was interviewed and was given the opportunity to showcase their music nationwide. Some of these distinguished shows were Despierta America, Enfoque Musical, Johnny Canales Show, Domingo Show, Cotorreando, De Maanita, Escandalo Al Medio Da, Aqu Rogelio, Accordion Dreams, Puro Tejano, and Buscando Las Estrellas with Roberto Pulido.
In 2004, Siggno was released from Crown Records and signed with a new record label from Monterrey N.L. named Serca Music. The release of their third album titled "CAMINANDO" opened up to a new audience and a new market for Siggno. Now, Siggno music was being heard in cities all over Mexico like, Monterrey, San Luis Potosi, Victoria, Tampico, Saltillo, and many more.
In 2006, Siggno signed a 5 year recording contract in the USA with Grammy Award winning Freddie Records from Corpus Christi. The anticipated 2006 album titled "Amor y Dolor " was released in mid April and has taken Siggno to another level. The song titled "Mejor Dimelo," written by Jesse Turner, is still charting on the top 10 in the United States. The album was released in April, and Siggno is proud to announce that the album "Amor y Dolor" has sold more copies than any of the previous albums. The Album is currently one of the top sellers in the industry.
