And maybe because of this fact he´s today one of the best flamenco guitarists. His technical abilities are very impressive, which could be easily observed on his live performances, usually with his own group consisted of (between others) David Huertas (cajón, percussion, palmas) and José de Lucía (bass guitar).
Besides of being a guitarist, Cortés is also a good composer. He likes mixing traditional flamenco with some new blends and ideas. Results are presented on his CD´s, from which the most significant are such albums like Eclipse de luna (his debut CD), Gitanos de Agua, Campo libre or in concert version on Live 2005.
