Psofioi Korioi (Ψόφιοι Κοριοί in Greek) were founded in the winter of 1996 in Xathi, Greece by: Vaggelis Neratzas (Βαγγέλης Νεραντζάς) (vocals) , Fanis Valiazis (Φάνης Βαλιάζης)(guitar), Dimitris Mitafidis (Δημήτρης Μυταφίδης)(drums). Later George Krallis (Γιώργος Κράλλης) (bass) was added to the lineup replacing the former bassist Manousos Nikolaides (Μανούσος Νικολαϊδης).
At the beginning the group started as a band of university students with only purpose to have fun and to take part in university concerts around Thrace. The crowd's response on their first concerts where more than encouraging, which led the band to try something for something more professional. This try brought a contract with Virgin, after the recording of two Demos.
The band recorded their first album in July 1997 entitled "Outro" and with Manousos Nikolaides as a bassist.
Since the release of their first album, their have appeared at the most important concert halls of Athens and Thessaloniki (Rodon, Camel Club, Av Club, Mylos etc), in many towns in the country including Heraclion, Chania and Kavala. The greatest moments for the band where their participation in the Rockwave Festival of 1998 along with famous artists like Portisthead, Nick Cave, Moby, Puressence, Pulp, Sonic youth etc, and at the Ymittos Festival of 1998 at Theatro Vraxon.
In the meantime, from September 1998, Manousos was replaces by George Krallis giving the band it's latest lineup.
In 1999 there was a great change for the band. The university years ended and Thessaloniki became the domicile of the band, where they started preparing for their second album. From July 1999 to February 2000 the band recorded their second album entitled "Simera einai i mera sou" (Σήμερα Είναι Η Μέρα Σου). Read more on Last.fm.
