Power in the Blood is a collaborative project between three distinct entities of the ATX experimental scene - Ernestina Forbis of How I Quit Crack, Chris Cones of Skullcaster and Hunter Shaw of Dakota Hogback. The sound of PITB is a hypnotic synthesis of technology and spirituality. Ancient rhythms and melodies are conjured through a contemporary electronic soundscape to create utterly singular compositions. Their first single "The Eyes of Tlaloc" contains elements of dark ambient, juke and gospel combined with dense, dreamy jungle atmospherics. The title is a reference to the Aztec god of water, whose eyes were commonly depicted as two serpents intertwined in an infinite loop. Tlaloc's devotees would wear the flayed skins of sacrificed children for 20 days before offering them to the god during the festival of Tozoztontli, which took place deep within the caves where he was thought to dwell.
