This album was a big departure for the band, leaving behind rougher edged rock for a more polished pop sound, with the goal of getting airplay on notoriously musically conservative Christian radio stations. "Why Should the Father Bother?" did the trick, earning the group its first bonafide Christian music hit and enabling them to get more widespread visibility for future albums in which the rock would return.
