Pater Moeskroen is a folk rock band from the Netherlands. They’re well-known in their own country and in Belgium for their energetic live-shows and albums. They have a very special own sound, which is been build up from Dutch, Celtic and other folk music, combining this with rock and latin rhythms.
The band uses a lot of different musical instruments, such as flute, trumpet, accordion, banjo and bagpipes. Their lead singers Marcel Sophie and, from Belgium, Bart Swerts, get audiences all over the country on their feet to dance and jump to the powerful songs. Because of the sometimes very humorous lyrics and presentation, the band is especially popular as a live-band.
Founded in 1986, Pater Moeskroen reached the bigger public in 1991 due to some top ten-hits and ditto TV-status. In 1993 they got a price (“De Gouden Notenkraker”) for their achievements as a live band. Later they also became very successful with theater shows all over the country.
Although they have already played abroad before (in Birmingham (Alabama), in Dublin and on different occasions in Belgium and France), they're still looking for other challenges.
Pater Moeskroen recorded 15 albums over the years and did more than 1250 shows all together. In 2006, they celebrated their 20th anniversary. On January 7th 2009, they played their 1500th performance in their career. Read more on Last.fm.
