The band had it's first big performance in 1985. when they played in "Taš" club in Belgrade, and that is when Tanja Jovićević, their singer, joined the group.
The band released three albums: A self-titled album "Oktobar 1864" in 1987, "Igra Bojama" (roughly translated: Playing With Colors/Color Play) in 1988 and "Crni Ples" (The Black Dance) in 1990. They represented totally new sound in Belgrade's scene for several years, and all of their albums were a major success, but the band broke apart in 1991 and held their last concert in "SKC" in 1992.
Their first album was re-released in 2000 by "One Records", as well as "Take It Or Leave It Records" and had two "Best Of" Albums, one by a major Serbian label PGP-RTS, the other by a big pop label "City Records". The band's vocalist, Tanja Jovićević, is still active, singing some of the Oktobar's great hits, as well as performing with many local jazz bands. Read more on Last.fm.
