Nadieh (The Hague (NL), September 7, 1958 - Utrecht (NL), April 5, 1996) born as Karin Francine Anne Meis, from a Dutch mother and an Indonesian father.
Early 80's she sings in the BB Band which have success with their singles Stille Willie en Hallo Je Spreekt Met Karin.
Her solocarreer took off succesfully when her first single Windforce 11 (1986) reach the charts. Her debut album Land Of Tá is both artisticly and commercially a succes. It received a Zilveren Harp and an Edison Music Award. In 1987, her single Haifa Blue (comming from her second album Company of Fools) wins the first prize at the World Song Contest in Japan.
Her third album is rock-orientated and is called No Way Back. On this album the duet Splendid Morning with Colin Blunstone can be found.
Her fourth album, Eye On The Waves, is more easy listening and folk. When the international carreer she hoped for didn't lift off, she decided to step out of the stagelights.
She moved with her children to a small village in the centre of The Netherlands and focused more on her horses. She did continue to make music, however on a low profile. Her fifth album is released in 1994, on a small independent label. On My Own can be described as a pure, intimate singer/songwriter album.
She died of cancer in a hospital in Utrecht.
After her death the Nadieh Foundation released two albums containing demo-recordings and unreleased tracks Nadieh recorded in her home studio. The first album, Leef Me (1999) is in the Dutch language. Ten years after her death a second album, Go Stand, is released. It contains English songs, among which a cover of the Elton John song I Need You To Turn To. Also a duet with her daughter Nadiè.
Daughter Nadiè has the talent of her mother and released so far two albums of her own. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
