Mree (Marie Hsiao) born November 1, 1993, is an American experimental folk artist from New Jersey and based in Portland. Mree first began posting covers on YouTube in 2008. She gained a following through singing the music of her influences such as Bon Iver and Imogen Heap. Mree's voice has always been regarded as ethereal by her subscribers on YouTube. With the release of her original music starting in March 2011 with her debut single, Against the Current she established a sound of her own that would steadily evolve with her maturation as an artist. Mree released her debut album Grow in October 2011. Two years later, Mree released her sophomore album Winterwell in August 2013. This album was a departure from the acoustic sound of its predecessor. She introduced electronic elements into her acoustic base with ease. Several songs from this album went on to be featured in an array of television shows. In December 2015 Mree released her third album, Empty Nest adding seven new songs to her catalog.
