Μωρά στη Φωτιά (Mora sti Fotia, English: Babies on fire) started in 1985 when three friends from Veria, Greece form the "Τεμπέληδες της Εύφορης Κοιλάδας". They are Στέλιος Παπαϊωάννου - Σαλβαδόρ (Stelios Papaioannou - Salvador) on vocals and bass, Γιώργος Παπαϊωάννου (Giorgos Papaioannou) on drums and Δημήτρης Βασιλειάδης on guitar.
One year later Δημήτρης left the band to do his military service and was replaced by Παύλος Παυλίδης (Pavlos Pavlidis).
In early 1986 they leaft Veria for Thessaloniki and changed their name to "Λεγεώνα των Ξένων". They spent that summer playing live shows in various cities, mostly in northern Greece.
After a suggestion by Γιώργος Παπαϊωάννου they changed their name to "Μωρά στη Φωτιά"; the idea came from the song "Baby's on fire" by Βrian Eno.
Under the name "Μωρά στη Φωτιά" they recorded their self titled debut in 1987. The album included 8 songs written by Στέλιος Παπαϊωάννου - Σαλβαδόρ ("Κάτω στην πόλη", "Σκυλίσια μέρα", "Αδέρφια στην Κόλαση", "Ηρωϊνη", "Παυσίπονο", "Μανιφέστο", "Υποσχέσεις", "Το Παιχνίδι") and a cover of Βrian Eno's "Third Uncle" with lyrics by Στέλιος.
During the spring of 1988 they started playing a series of new songs during their live shows such as "Αδρεναλίνη", "Σαλονίκη (Μόνος σου ξανά)", "Βαβυλωνία", "Γυναίκα", "Άνθρωπος Ελέφαντας", ''Φωλιά του Κούκου", "Θεατρίνοι" and more.
In 1989 Παυλίδης leaft the band to form Ξύλινα Σπαθιά and left Στέλιος Παπαϊωάννου - Σαλβαδόρ and Γιώργος Παπαϊωάννου to continue under the name "Μωρά στη Φωτιά" along with a group of other musicians.
For various reasons the group was unable to work with the record label they were signed with at the time and in the meantime some of their unreleased songs ("Αδρεναλίνη", "Γυναίκα" (Καβαλάρης του Τρόμου), "Σαλονίκη" (Ερώτηση Κλειδί - Ξεσσαλονίκη) appeared on the debut album of Ξύλινα Σπαθιά, without the permission of their composer Στέλιος Παπαϊωάννου - Σαλβαδόρ.
Even though they had only released one album since 1991 they had managed to create a loyal fanbase which was apparent from the crowds during their show in the Open Theatre of Sikeon municipality.
Four more years have to pass before "Μωρά στη Φωτιά" release their second album "Θεατρίνοι" on the Lazy Dog label in October 1999.
The new band lineup at the time was: Στέλιος Παπαϊωάννου - Σαλβαδόρ (vocals, bass, songwriting), Θ. Ζαχαρόπουλος (drums), Θ. Νάτσικας (guitar), Αχιλλέας Τσιτούρας (keyboards).
The fan reactions for both the record and the return of the band to touring was enthusiastic and the band went on to tour all over Greece during 2000.
In June of 2004 Σ. Παπαϊωάννου - Σαλβαδόρ created the label "Baby records" and in February 2005 released the band's third album, titled "Στο δρόμο" (On the road) that includes a recording of "Αδρεναλίνη" 17 years after it was written, since the copyright issues had finally been resolved.
The band lineup for that record and for subsequent touring was: Στέλιος Παπαϊωάννου - Σαλβαδόρ (vocals) Βαγγέλης Νοτόπουλος (bass) Ηλίας Πετρίδης (keyboards) Δημήτρης Ζήκας (drums) Γιώργος Βασίλας (guitar) Read more on Last.fm.
