Maya Isacowitz is a singer-songwriter, the daughter of South African Parents. Maya, whose father Peter builds musical instruments, grew up in a musical home in a small village in Israel, and started playing the guitar and singing at the age of 14.
In August 2011 she released her debut album “Safe & Sound”, a folk-rock album which contains elements of soul, blues and country. The three singles released from the album – “Is It Alright”, “Safe & Sound” and “Brave Again”- were put onto the play list of the main music station in Israel – “Galgalatz”. There have been numerous positive reviews in the press voting Maya “Discovery of the year”. The album is approaching "Golden Record" and the "Safe & Sound" tour included over a 100 shows.
“Best New Artist 2012″- In April 2012 Maya won Israel’s prestigious ACUM award for “Best New Artist” (ACUM is the Israeli music copy-right collection agency). She also collaborated with the successful electronic band, “INFECTED MUSHROOM”, on their latest album “Army of Mushrooms” in the track “Wanted To”. She was invited to perform with them on tour celebrating the release of their album. On July 16th 2012 she was chosen to be the support act for CHRIS CORNELL at “Shuni Amphitheater” in Israel on his “Songbook 2012″ tour.
Maya is currently in New York recording her second album with the acclaimed Grammy nominated producer Jonathan Dagan (j.viewz). The new album is due to come out towards the beginning of 2014.
