A bitter sweet almost David Lynch alike imaginary expression. Marie has kept instrumentation simple but very effective; everything's carefully slotted in its place to just punctuate and enhance her silky, sultry voice.
In 2004 she established a recording studio in the backyard of an old house in the center of Copenhagen. While writing songs she recorded demos and invited musicians to join her in the studio. As developing the musical sound in the studio, this would be a debut album produced by herself and the drummer Jakob Hoyer (The Raveonettes). Rune Kjeldsen (Rhonda Harris) is the guitar player and Anders Christensen (Rhonda Harris) is the bass player and has been working along in the process adding their vibe and great talents to the music. Nicolai Munch-Hansen (Kira Skov) is featured on some of the tunes playing the upright bass with his magic touch.
While working in the studio with her music, she's been supporting various artists in Denmark. She played at Roskilde Festival '05 which was broadcasted live on the national radio. In the fall of '05 she went to London performing as a duo with Rune Kjeldsen at Barfly and The Social among others. She was awarded a prize of honor as the new upcoming artist 2005 sponsored by Carlsberg. She performed at the event called "People Have The Power" among other special guests invited such as Sharin Foo (The Raveonettes) and Nicole Atkins (usa). At this concert each artist were singing a song written by Patti Smith for the benefit of Christiania '06. As part of a Saturday night program portraying the great legend Johnny Cash on DR2 danish national TV, she performed a song with Kira Skov '07. See the performance at YouTube. She also wrote a song for Martin De Thurah's short film "We Who Stayed Behind" nominated at Venice Film Festival'08. Martin is also known for his music video's (Mew, Röyksopp, Kanye West) At the moment Marie's first single "City Lies" is on the national radio p3.
Spending a lot of time in the studio lately mixing the drone of guitars, soft tambourines, sampled beats and more, Marie Fisker's debut album will hit the streets in May 2009!
