Somehow Mr Walker is not yet known internationally as the extraordinarily talented, artful, heartfelt, unique and ballsy songwriter and producer he is. Industrious in Australia, Machine Translations are often lumped in the general Aussie pop/rock bin, when perhaps they could be said to be on par with, if not exceed, the alt/country/psychedelic/experimental songform wizardry of some of the world's finest.
J has been releasing unusually wonderful albums since the mid 90s under the Machine Translations moniker, and in recent years moved from a remote location in the country, to Melbourne, where he now runs a small studio, recording and producing other bands - notably in the past few years Function (Locust) and Love of Diagrams (Matador).
