macdonald duck eclair (written Mac Donald Duck Eclair until 2000) is a Japanese "pico-pico" or picopop band formed in Tokyo, Japan in 1998 by Akiyo (アキヨ, vocals) and Yuki Shimamura (シマムラユキ, composition). Their unique sound combines electronic elements with French pops style vocals, noisy punk guitars with poppy keyboard melodies. They are signed to the Japanese indie label Usagi Chang Records and have released three full length albums to date. Soon after forming, Toyomu Futamata (フタマタトヨム, composition) joined the band. They released their first single, many many sweets, in 1999 through K.O.G.A. Records. A year later, Akiyo quit the band and was replaced by current vocalist Michi Kuninaga (クニナガミチ), formerly of Spoochy. They began playing live shows in 2000 and grabbed the attention of USAGI-CHANG RECORDS, who quickly signed them. They became known for their high energy single Mac Teenage Riot on the label sampler "Killer Killer Usagi Chang" in 2003. The single is a tribute to the group Atari Teenage Riot. Their first album Short Short was released in 2004 and their second, darker album The Genesis Songbook was released in 2005. They also collaborated with Valvola, Kylie Minogue, Iggy Pop, and Hong Kong Counterfeit among others to create the electroclash and disco album "The Electronic Tomato" released in 2004 on SHADO records. Their slogan is "Lolli, pico'tte, macin' rock." They switched labels back to KOGA Records in 2011. Their most recent album, このときめき今すぐ, was released in May 2011. Read more on Last.fm.
