La Caina are French artists: Jean Pierre Plisson (writer, producer, programming and guitars), Maxime Plisson (vocals and lyrics), Nicolas Scheid (sax, flute), Marc Darnère (bass) and several well-known French musicians. Together, they produce a typical smooth chill-out sound that is synonymous with Café del Mar.
La Caina first collaborated in Café del Mar's 25th Anniversary CD, recording five tracks under several other artist names (Mic Max, Leslie Round, Zednah, Prodoxo and Joke Society). Their second participation in a Café del Mar release, in one of the series' most notable compilations, Café del Mar, volumen doce, included Bailando Va (disc 1, track #14) and Le Vent M'a Dit (disc 2, track #6).
In 2006, Café del Mar unveiled La Caina's debut album, Café del Mar by La Caina - Vue Mer, to excellent reviews worldwide. They followed it up with Café del Mar by La Caina - Head in the Clouds (Nov 2007).
