Joey Lawrence is one of the rarest breeds in Hollywood, a teen icon who has successfully transitioned to legitimate singer, actor and dancer—a veritable triple threat. He continues to build his audience whether through film, television or creating his first love, music.
Lawrence can currently be seen in the ABC Family original comedy series Melissa & Joey, whose 2010 premiere holds the honor of being the network’s most-watched comedy series debut ever, co-starring with Melissa Joan Hart.
Joey Lawrence has long had a knack for capturing the musical zeitgeist. At age 16, he began a recording career and in 1993 he released a self-titled debut album. The album was produced by Terry Lupton, Ian Prince and Teddy Riley. Lawrence also co-wrote songs on the album, including the international hit single Nothin’ My Love Can’t Fix (Billboard Hot 100 Airplay #6, Billboard Top 40 Mainstream #10, Billboard Hot 100 #19).
Lawrence has always said music was his real passion. “It's been way too long since I've brought some new music out to my fans. I'm really excited about my brand new record. I had the privilege to write this entire record with super-producer Matthew Gerrard. We first started collaborating about a year ago and instantly connected on many levels with our music. We just kept going and going–and 9 months later had a complete record.”
Producer and co-writer Gerrard, whose chart-topping artists include Delta Goodrem, Kelly Clarkson, and Hannah Montana, says “Joey’s new album is awesome. Radio ready hits that will make you wanna dance. Bumpin’ tracks and killer vocals!” Lawrence explains: “My music is all about feeling good. It's time to get back to having fun. That's what I want my music and tour to be all about. I truly can't wait to release the record and get out there and perform the crap out of my new songs!!” (His dancing prowess is an audience favorite, too, with appearances on “Dancing with the Stars,” the TLC series “Masters of Dance,” and in the Broadway hit Chicago as Billy Flynn.)
