They play a rough form of streetpunk, and are one of the first bands in the United States to adopt the skinhead look and the Oi! musical style. The band had close ties to the Washington, DC hardcore punk subculture, due to its relationship with other hardcore bands, with Ian Mackaye, and with Dischord Records. Singer Sab Grey was one of the many roommates in the Dischord House in Arlington, VA. The band's name — and the skinhead image of most of its members — led to accusations of fascism, which Grey has always denied. Grey stated in the original Iron Cross press kit in 1982, "...oh, and we're not Nazis!"
2) The other Iron Cross was formed in late 1979. They released their first album independently in 1986 to great reviews and radio play on college radio and on Z-Rocks nationally syndicated show. After an exhausting run of live shows they released the four song cassette EP “Die Like That” and took the show on the road again. Between 1988 and 1992, the band released the “Pieces” tape consisting of live and studio recordings, and made two complete music videos and another four song cassette EP, all financed by touring and merchandise sales. When the Metal scene declined in the early ‘90s, IRON CROSS took some well deserved time off. In late 1998, IRON CROSS released a double vinyl album on O.P.M. records limited to 666 copies worldwide. This album sold out within a few weeks after its release. Since Iron Glory knew about the unbelievable potential of the band, they decided to re-release their classic songs on CD for the first time. Their image and music can be compared to Metal heroes like MANILLA ROAD, ANGEL WITCH or HALLOWEEN. With the ball rolling, the band has set sights on working in new member Steve Snyder who replaced Rex Allen touring and working on the new CD, and has no intention of stopping until their goals are met. IRON CROSS will be playing some Florida shows and upcoming Metal Festivals.
