Swedish singer and songwriter. The whole story began in 1969 when the first vinyl single was recorded together with his brothers Dan and Simon.
After high school and college, Frank went to Uppsala to study at the University for half a year. But time was not enough. Frank quit school and chose to dedicate his time for music. Since then, Frank has worked as a full time musician, with the exception of a year at the newspaper Dagen in Stockholm.
Today Frank is engaged in many different projects, as many freelance musicians are. He has his own concerts with a pianist or with a full band and choir, he works as a backup musician and singer to different Swedish artists and TV shows, (an example is Bingo Lotto). He also produces radio commercials for the Swedish radio channel Rix FM.
Frank works part time as a teacher at The Music Production Academy (Musikmakarna) in Örnsköldsvik, a two years education with a direction towards pop music. In his own studio at home, he often does voice dubbing for cartoons as well.
Between the years 1978-1992 Frank was a member of Edin-Ådahl, a group containing of two pairs of brothers, Bertil and Lasse Edin and Simon and Frank Ådahl.
The breakthrough came in 1990. Edin-Ådahl received an offer from songwriters Mikael Wendt/Krister Lundh to perform their song "Like A Wind" at the Swedish Song Contest. Edin-Ådahl won and went to Zagreb, Yugoslavia, to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest.
The English version of the record "Into My Soul" was played frequently on American radio stations. Edin-Ådahl were number 1 on the CCM chart (Contemporary Christian Music) with 3 different songs.
After 14 years and 8 albums Edin-Ådahl broke up. If they'll ever get back together? You never know, now do you?
In 1993 Simon Ådahl started the cover band Instant Hits. The band, Frank & Simon Ådahl, Johan Fransson on drums and Patrik Lindell on guitar started touring in the beginning of 1993. During the summer of -93 the band worked for the famous Swedish artist Carola on her 10-years celebration tour as an artist.
In august -93 Frank received a call from Lasse Lindbom from The Husbands. Their keyboard player, Micke Bolyos, was occupied elsewhere, so Lasse asked Frank to stand in for Micke. During the coming 8 years Frank played with The Husbands and most of the artist elite in Sweden.
The summer of 1994 Frank got the offer to do the Swedish voice of Simba in Disney's "Lion king". As the voice of Simba, the Lion King himself, Frank has been a part of the biggest success in Swedish cinema history. More than 2 million tickets sold …But also the little flying pig Mumfie and the alert penguin Hubbe has borrowed Franks voice.
1996 Frank participated in the Swedish Song Contest with the song "Tårar från himlen". This time together with the pianist Magnus Spångberg.
In 1998 Frank participated as a song writer in the Swedish song contest with the song "Kärleken finns överallt". Helena Eriksson was the artist Today Frank works as a co writer with many of Sweden's new songwriters, both as a lyric and music writer.
Frank spent the summer of 1998 touring with Stefan Andersson and Jenny Öhlund. In September –98 he encountered one of his biggest challenges ever.
Together with a group of 16 Frank took an active part in starting up The Music Production Academy (Musikmakarna) in Örnsköldsvik, the first Swedish school for young talented song writers. -The greatest thing is to be a part of such a project and make it happen, Frank says.
The summer of 2000 Frank was a backup vocalist and keyboard player on Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson's summer tour. –It's a great honour to work with this living legend! She is one of Sweden's biggest artist with such a fantastic music history, Frank says.
In August 2001 Frank was invited to play with the soul legend James Ingram when he was in Stockholm for a performance. -One of my favourite singers, says Frank.
Frank also has a radio advertising company together with the owner of Samsound, Jerry Gyll. This has been a part time occupation during the last 6 years but it's growing. Today there are 4 people in the company working part time with radio commercials.
- It can be difficult to create music under time pressure, but I think it's stimulating and educational.
Frank continues; - To work as a full time musician today demands that you can stand on more than two feet and that you can work with different projects at the same time. It's more like Nine-To-Five than Rock-n–Roll!
