Fonogenico (フォノジェニコ) was a J-band most commonly performing ballad and jazz songs. They were signed under BMG Japan and are famous for having performed the first ending theme of the anime series xxxHOLiC entitled "Reason", which was their debut in the music industry. They also performed the theme song for the J-drama "Hyakki Yakoushou." Fonogenico consisted of 高山奈帆子 (Naoko Takayama) (vocals and lyrics) and 川口潤 (Masaru Kawaguchi)(piano, keyboards, composition). They released four singles in total, entilted respectively "Reason", "Rhythm", "Orange Sand" and "You aren't there/raindrops", and a mini-album, entitled "Negaigoto".
In 2008, Kawaguchi retired and Fonogenico effectively disbanded. However, singer Takayama went on to create a new "band" for her solo work, entitled カルネイロ (Carneiro).
