Elin Fflur (born Elin Fflur Llewelyn Harvey in 1984 in Anglesey) is a Welsh singer and songwriter. She is well known in Welsh-language media, especially since she won the Cân i Gymru (Song for Wales) contest in 2002. Formerly the singer with the group Carlotta, she was subsequently lead singer of Y Moniars.
Fflur had her first taste of performing at the age of three, singing at an Eisteddfod. Formerly the singer with the group Carlotta (alongside her brother Ioan), she became the lead singer of the Anglesey-based group Y Moniars, along with songwriter Arfon Wyn (who wrote the song 'Harbwr Diogel'). The group enjoyed a successful spell with the release of their first album 'Harbwr Diogel'.
Taking a year out from studying for a criminology degree at Bangor University, Fflur recorded her debut solo album 'Dim Gair' (No Words). Released on the Welsh label Sain in December 2003, it was an instant success, mixing rock ballads and lush orchestration with folk songs and adult-oriented pop.
"It's something I've always wanted to do - a solo CD," she said. "I've recorded other things in the past but this is the first time it feels really like mine. I can't wait for people to hear it. Every song on the album comes from personal experiences."
Subsequent albums include Lleuad Llawn (Full Moon), released in 2014.
Fflur occasionally works behind the scenes and as a presenter on S4C, the Welsh-language television channel, initially on the music roadshow Nodyn, and subsequentlyon the evening magazine programme Heno. Along with Trystan Ellis-Morris, Fflur currently co-presents Cân i Gymru (Song for Wales) each year on S4C. Read more on Last.fm.
