Lohues gained prominence in The Netherlands as the frontman of pop/rock outift, SKIK (1994-2004, six albums). The demise of SKIK marked the start of his solo career. Lohues became known for his brand of 'Dutch Americana', sung in the Drenthe dialect, first with his new band Lohues & The Louisiana Blues Club (albums in 2003 and 2005), later under his own name: ten albums and counting, from Allennig (2006) to Moi (2017).
Songs written by Lohues were recorded and performed by well-known Dutch artists such as Jenny Arean, Freek de Jonge, Guus Meeuwis, The Common Linnets and Paul de Leeuw. he produced albums for Di-rect, Henny Vrienten, Rob de Nijs and the blues legends from his home province, Cuby + Blizzards.
