The Cumberland River Band’s music is reflective of their deep roots in the Harlan County, Kentucky hills, so it was no surprise the producers of the FX Network’s hit TV show, JUSTIFIED tapped their original song, “Justified” that aired on “Season 2, Episode 4" in 2011. Since that time, the show has added 7 more songs being used in the April 6, 2011 Episode that will feature only music from this band.
All songs can be heard on the band’s debut album, ROCK ISLAND EXPRESS released in September 2010.
It began in July 2010, when the band was invited to perform for the writers and producers of JUSTIFIED who were in Harlan gathering information for their upcoming season. With only 24 hours notice, the band got together and wrote “Justified” as a gift to the show. At their performance, they received a standing ovation from the writers and producers, including multi-award winning writer and producer, GRAHAM YOST.
The Cumberland River Band is currently recording their second album. This new project is being produced by STEVE GULLEY (Grasstowne). The album is scheduled for release late 2011. It will include a collection of heart felt songs and haunting ballads written by the band and their family members taken from their life experiences and campfire stories from Harlan County.
