Cristina Donà is an Italian singer-songwriter.
She studied at Accademia di belle arti di Brera in Milano, where, during a student protest in 1990, she met Manuel Agnelli, leader of the Italian indie rock band Afterhours. Later she started her own singing career opening for Afterhours during their During Christine’s Sleep tour.
Besides the live performances in clubs in Milan and surroundings, Cristina Donà, encouraged by Manuel Agnelli himself, began working on her own songs, and released her first album, Tregua, in 1997. The album was an immediate success. Robert Wyatt of Mojo included it among his favourites of the year. The music critic Charlie Gillett has played her songs on BBC radio.
Since then Donà has performed live in an Italian tour, and opened concerts for Ben Harper and David Byrne.
She has released six other albums, collaborating with artists and songwriters such as Eric Wood, Davey Ray Moor and Subsonica.
In 2006 she signed to the major label EMI that is re-distributing all her catalogue.
