"Living With Victoria Grey: The Very Best Of Cleaners from Venus" is a CD release from 2004, which serves both as an introduction for new listeners and as a ‘refresher’ for past listeners.
The 18 tracks on this collection were the ‘best of’ The Cleaners vinyl years -as opposed to their DIY tape years. One of the great undiscovered talents of underground pop music, Cleaners from Venus (led by Martin Newell) trawl a heritage of pop culture, trash TV and the innocence of a longgone age. Slightly psychedelic, the songs echo Ray Davis and are steeped in 60’s nostalgia.
These tracks were selected from Under Wartime Conditions (Autumn 1985) Going To England (1986) Town and Country (1988) plus one or two orphan tracks from singles and 12 inch e.p’ s from that period.
