Johnsson was born in Gothenburg, Sweden to Rolph and Carina Johnsson but later moved to Sunne, a village in the province of Värmland. The parents - both architects - contributed to her big interests in design, but in the end music became her main focus.
As a teenager she moved to Karlstad and later, as an exchange student, to USA. She took up skiing as a hobby and was for a while a semiprofessional snowboarder. Back in Sweden she combined studies with jobs in a record shop and as nightclub croupier.
She is fluent in 4 languages - Swedish, English, German and Norwegian
Fresh from her massive hit ‘We Are’ , the lead single from Spider-Man 2, Ana Johnsson has announced the follow up single, ‘Don't Cry For Pain’, set for release on October 4th 2004.
Ana wrote ‘Don't Cry For Pain’ with legendary fellow Swedish songwriter / producer Max Martin. Martin is famous for working with pop acts such as Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, but Ana claims he is a “rocker at heart”. You’ll want to hear how Ana brings out Martin’s rockier side.
Driving guitars, strong lyrics and Ana’s edgy vocal empower this pop/ rock crossover. Killer chorus, riff laden instrumentation. Ana’s debut album ‘The Way I Am' will follow. Both singles are a good taster of the album that Ana has co-written. Every track a single contender, this album will surely propel Ana to Global fame.
With the press referring to her as the ‘more credible Avril Lavigne’, Avril had better watch her crown.
She’s young, feisty, beautiful and talented. With her ‘no bullshit’ attitude she’s strong willed without being un-real. Check out ‘Cry For Pain’, out October 4th.
