Created in 1976, Acetre is one of the most emblematic and experienced groups within the folk panorama of Extremadura,Spain.Starting from a rich traditional base and in union with their great experience as musicians, they have created and renewed music by making the right choice between instrumental and vocal quality, moreover they have been able to open new horizons with music inspired from traditional roots.
Their birthplace Olivenza, (a town rooted in two cultures Spanish and Portuguese) gives them the simple and naturally spontaneous characteristic of being considered as 'bicultural', which can only be explained as growing up and learning with the knowledge and essence of two cultures that are present in everyday life.
Using tunes, patterns and rhythms of the traditional music from Extremadura for the creation of original and well woven compositions, AcetreĀ“s music suggests amazing landscapes and smells like sun, earth, grass and leaves ... like life. Alongside instrumental parts you find songs sung in Castilian Spanish, Portuguese and related dialects. With Oriental and African percussion, the Arabic Ud,and AcetreĀ“s characteristic choir arrangements the sounds featured on "Dehesario",their seventh album, go far beyond those of a typical folk band, and represent another significant step in the oeuvre of the band: over the last years they have developed from a regional group for traditional music to the status of one of the most significant bands of new Spanish folk music.
The band has played in the most important festivals in Spain and other countries as Germany,Portugal,Switzerland or Cuba. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
