Having experienced a great growth in popularity with their previous album, hi-fi serious, the band were keen to record and release Teen Dance Ordinance partly to capitalise on that success. After recording the album, however, difficulties with the label struck delaying the album's release around a year, and ultimately resulting in a failure to market the release effectively, much to the dismay of the band members.
