4Minute originally scheduled their EP release for February 2012; however, this date was subsequently delayed several times. Volume Up was finally released and officially revealed on April 9, 2012. The premiere of the music video for the title song took place on the same day.
The group promoted the title track "Volume Up" (as well as the track "Dream Racer") on several music shows. Between April 12 and 15, 2012, they appeared onstage at music shows, including Mnet's M! Countdown, KBS's Music Bank, MBC's Show! Music Core and SBS's Inkigayo.
Later in 2012, the group sang a shortened version of the title song in Indian language. The music video for this song was shown as an art video on PRIME TIME Mnet.
On August 22, of that same year, 4minute released a physical single named "Love Tension" as their seventh Japanese single. The single includes the Japanese version of their Korean hit "Volume Up" as a B Side and Karaoke versions of both songs. The physical single album was released in three different editions: a regular edition and 2 limited CD+DVD (Type A including the "Love Tension" music video and Type B featuring the making of the "Love Tension" music video and the Korean "Volume Up" music video). The music video for "Love Tension" premiered exclusively on MTV Japan on August 4. Read more on Last.fm.
